Azure Transparent Encryption Disabled
Description
Detects Azure SQL Databases that have Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) disabled. TDE provides encryption at rest for the entire database, including backups and transaction log files. Having TDE disabled leaves sensitive database content unencrypted and vulnerable to unauthorized access if physical media is compromised.
Detection Strategy
• Scans all Azure SQL Databases in the subscription
• Checks if the Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) status is explicitly set to 'disabled'
• Reports a vulnerability for each database where TDE protection is not enabled
